Just like Dad would have done
Complete the game on any difficulty level
Perform a silent kill with Shadow
That’s what you gets!
Kill an enemy by knocking or throwing him off a ledge
While playing as Jack, grab an enemy by pressing + now press again while pushing the directional stick into the direction of the ledge to throw him down. Can be done during Chapter 1 while chasing after Riggs, just grab the first enemy you see and throw him over the railing.
Got your GAC
Take a GAC hostage
Starting in Chapter 5 you’ll encounter GAC Units. GAC Units have to be weakend before you can disarm or grab them. So just hit them a few times and then press + to grab, and one more time to take them hostage.
Get ready for a surprise!
Leap over and kick an enemy from cover
When an enemy covers behind chests just sprint in his direction and press shortly before reaching the boxes to leap over them. If you’ve done it right, Jack will automaticall kick the enemy and the trophy will unlock.
Perform a tag team kill with Shadow
See “Finish him Shadow!“
Open 10 doors with a hostage head
Once you’ve taken an enemy hostage you’re able to open doors using their head (or chest). Just approach a door and press once the prompt appears.
There’s a good spot during Chapter 2 to grind out this trophy in a matter of minutes. After you’ve completed the Shadow section during Chapter 2 keep playing as Jack until you reach an outdoor section with a chain gate and forklift next to the gate. Good for you that there’s a checkpoint aswell. Reload that Checkpoint and quickly run back into the warehouse you came out of. Grab the enemy that’s inside there and open the chain gate using him. Reload the Checkpoint and repeat until you unlock the trophy.
NOTE: If the doors of the warehouse are closed that means you have been too slow. Reload the Checkpoint again and try to get inside quicker.
It appears that for some people the above mentioned spot doesn’t work anymore, if you are one of them, here’s a video showing another spot to easily grind your trophy
Perform a Shadow groin takedown
Sometimes when you attack an enemy with Shadow while sprinting around, not attacking them with a stealth kill, will make Shadow kill them by biting their groin. Trophy unlocked.
Crime and punishment
Perform 50 takedowns
Takedowns are performed by pressing X when the prompt comes up on the lower half of your screen. In order for the prompt to come up you have to deal damage to your enemies quickly. The easiest way for me to deal quick damage was using the 5-hit combo (, , , + , + ).
Perform 50 Shadow kills
Just kill 50 enemies using Shadow. Both the kills achieved during the Shadow section and the Jack section add up towards the trophy. So if you’re playing as Jack, send in Shadow by pressing to kill someone.
Bring a gun to a fist fight
Perform 50 disarms
To disarm enemies you have to press when the prompt appears on the lower half of your screen. Normal Units can be disarmed instantly when you approach them, but to disarm GAC Units you’ll have to weaken them up with blows or gunfire first. Simply disarm 50 enemies and the trophy will unlock.
It’s all in the timing
Perform 50 counters
This one is easiest done during Chapter 2 while fighting Frank at the beginning. Just don’t hit the gong and you can continue to fight Frank as long as you want. You can’t die during this fight. To counter attacks, press the moment the enemy is about to hit you and Jack will counter the attack. Repeat 50 times.
Perform 200 3-hit combos
This one is easiest done during Chapter 2 while fighting Frank at the beginning. Just use this combo: , , . Just make sure all of your punches are a hit, otherwise it won’t count.
Dash evade 50 strikes
This one is easiest done during Chapter 2 while fighting Frank at the beginning. To Dash evade you have to press while pressing the directional button in any direction the moment the enemy is about to hit you. Repeat 50 times.
The price of justice
Collect 25 cop badges
See “Honor the Dead“
Medal of merit
Bronze rating on every level
See “Medal of Valor“
Get 30 headshots in any level, on OFFICER or greater difficulty.
Grab any weapon of your choice, take your time to aim and achieve 30 headshots during a single chapter. You can easily tell if you killed someone with a headshot as the game will trigger a short slow motion if you did.
Best cop this city’s ever had
Complete the game on OFFICER difficulty
Complete any level (excluding the Prologue) without firing a shot
This is easier than it may sound. Select any Chapter and just kill every enemy using only hand-to-hand combat or Shadow. I’d recommend Chapter 2, though. As the enemies there don’t have as many guns as the ones in other chapters and you have Frank and Shadow to help you out most of the time.
Perform 100 5-hit combos
This one is best be done during Chapter 2 while fighting Frank. To perform a 5-hit combo press the following buttons: , , , + , + . Just make sure that every single punch hits Frank and that he doesn’t block it. Otherwise it won’t count.
Honor the dead
Collect 50 cop badges
There are 5 Cop Badges in every Chapter (excluding the prologue and the epilogue), to find all of them take a look at this guide created by helraiser:
Badge Locations Guide
Medal of bravery
Silver rating on every level
See “Medal of Valor“
Complete any level with 10 silent kills, on OFFICER or greater difficulty.
When playing as Shadow, sneak behind an enemy and make sure he or any of his friend do not see you. Then press to kill him. The prompt will have the line “Silent Kill” beneath it. So if you see that, it’ll count towards the trophy.
I’d recommend Chapter 6 for this trophy.
NOTE: The trophy unlocks during the Results Screen, so you’ll have to finish the chapter in order to know if you’ve fulfilled the requirements.
Achieve maximum VARIATION BONUS on any level (excluding the Prologue)
Mix up your kills between hand-to-hand combat, gun fire and tag team kills to achieve the full 1500 points Variation Bonus. Funnily you can achieve this trophy during Chapter 1 where Shadow doesn’t even appear, so if you do it during Chapter 1, all you have to worry about is hand-to-hand combat and gunfire.
Got your back
Complete a level without Jack or Shadow dying (levels 3-10)
Just finish a Chapter of your choice without Jack or Shadow dying. That means Shadow can’t go down even when you’re playing Jack. If Shadow goes down – the moment where you have to get close to him and press to revive him – you have to restart. So it is recommended that you send Shadow out only when you’re 100 percent sure he’s going to survive it. Once you’ve completed the Chapter the trophy will unlock.
First at the scene
Achieve maximum CLEAR TIME BONUS on any level (excluding the Prologue)
Just complete any Chapter as fast as possible to achieve a 3000 points Clear Time Bonus. You’ll most likely unlock this while going for “Medal of Valor“
Finish him Shadow!
Combine Jack and Shadow to kill 20 enemies in any level, on OFFICER or greater difficulty.
You can perform tag team kills starting with Chapter 3 after obtaining Shadow. To perform a tag team kill weaken up any enemy with Jack, it doesn’t matter if you do so with blows or gunfire, and send in Shadow to finish them off. Repeat 20 times during a single Chapter and the trophy will unlock during the Results screen.
Complete the game on DETECTIVE difficulty
Just complete the game on the hardest difficulty setting. It’s not that hard and you’ll complete it without too much trouble if you use cover. Also use Focus Mode () often to quickly get rid of your enemies. Just don’t do anything too reckless. I found Chapter 6 to be the hardest, so if you’ve completed that one, it only becomes easier.
Medal of valor
Gold rating on every level
You achieve ratings after every chapter, ranging from bronze to gold. To achieve Gold Ratings, you’ll need an estimated 9500 points which are quite easy to achieve.
Here are the bonuses you can achieve:
Clear Time Bonus – Up to 3000 points. Just finish the chapter as quickly as possible. Dying adds additional time, so avoid it all together.
Variation Bonus – Up to 1500 points. Remember to mix up your skills between gunfire, hand-to-hand combat and tag team kills and you’ll be fine.
Survival – Up to 1500 points. 1000 points max if Shadow goes down while playing as Jack.
All of the following can reach a maximum of 1000 points, depending on how many of them you’ve performed during a single chapter:
– Tag Team Kills
– Stealth Kills
Collect all the game’s Trophies
Congratulations, you’ve achieved all of the trophies in Dead to Rights: Retribution. You’re the best Cop Grand City ever had.
Clear a path for Jack
Story related, cannot be missed. It will unlock after the prologue.
Crossing the line
Defeat the Enforcer with a Takedown
Story related, cannot be missed. During Chapter 1 you’ll encounter your first Enforcer, a topless man with tattoos. As he serves as a tutorial on how to perform takedowns, you can only kill him by using one.
Shown the ropes
Complete the fight with Frank
Story related. At the beginning of Chapter 2 you’ll have a box fight with your father. Complete all of the trainings tasks he has for you and the trophy will unlock.
NOTE: You have to complete all of the tasks he gives you in order for the trophy to unlock.
Protect the innocent
Save the hostages
This is the only secret trophy that is not unlocked by simply beating the story. During Chapter 1 you have to rescue the hostages from Temple Tower. You’ll encounter 3 sets of them, while set 1 and 2 won’t give you any trouble as it is nearly impossible for them to die, that’s a different story for the third set.
The third set of hostages is located at the bottom of the stairs leading to the TV studio which you will reach shortly after a cut-scene. Quickly dispatch the 2 guards using focus mode before they can kill a hostage and the trophy will unlock at the spot.
If you mess up and a hostage dies, just reload the last checkpoint and try again.
Man’s Best Friend
Story related, cannot be missed. This will unlock at the end of Chapter 2.
Help Jack and Frank into Milton

Get Jack to the bar in one piece
Story related, cannot be missed. Unlock once you’ve completed the Shadow Section at the beginning of Chapter 7 where you have to protect Jack.
GAC hawk down
Take out the Gunship
Story related, cannot be missed. This unlocks once you’ve destroyed the Gunship during Chapter 8. To take down the Gunship you have to shoot the spotlight first. After that, 4 blue sensors will appear. Shoot all 4 of them and the pilot will become visible. Kill him and you’ve successfully destroyed the Gunship.
Throw away the key
Story related, cannot be missed. This will unlock after the cutscene during Chapter 9 where you free the cops from their cells and imprison Temple.
Run out of town
Repel the GAC
Story related, cannot be missed. This will unlock at the end of Chapter 9.
Shut down the electric fences
Story related, cannot be missed. This will unlock once you’ve completed the Shadow Section during Chapter 6.
Doing it the ol’ fashioned way
Story related, cannot be missed. This unlocks at the end of Chapter 10.
Dog of war
Retrieve the security keycard for Jack
Story related, cannot be missed. This unlocks once you’ve completed the Shadow Section during Chapter 10.
Smile, you son of a…
Take out a GAC tank
Story related, cannot be missed. During Chapter 6 you’ll encounter your first GAC tank. To destroy them, you have to shoot the yellow canister on their back a few times. The most efficient weapon would be a sniper as it only takes one shot to take them down then.

You hear that? We’re official…
Complete Assault on the 87th Precinct.
Select the new Assault on the 87th Precinct Chapter and finish it. You can access it under “Downloadable Contents” -> “Case Files”.
Above and beyond
Achieve Gold Rating in Assault on the 87th Precinct.
Remember how you’ve obtained your Gold Ratings during the Main Game, and repeat what you’ve done there. I highly recommend playing on Officer this time though as you won’t have Shadow as another source for points which makes it nearly impossible to achieve enough points without the multiplier. Just finish the Chapter as quickly as possible, don’t die and you’ll be fine.
GAC in time for dinner
Achieve maximum CLEAR TIME BONUS in Assault on the 87th Precinct.
Rush through the level as fast as possible. There are quite a few spots where you can easily save time. First off, when you drop down into the building as Copperhead (The GAC Sniper) just rush to your targets, don’t kill any enemies. They will disappear after you’ve placed the second detonator.
When playing as Kodiak, always charge your fists by pressing (and holding) . It’ll increase your melee damage drastically and will help you out saving time during the unavoidable fighting parts in his section.
The next spot where you can save a lot of time is once you control the GAC Tank. Always use your rockets here, even for generic GCPD units. Shoot the GCPD Vans with your rockets as soon as you can see them, the enemies will retreat then and you can easily take care of them while they’re running away. The first set of enemies might not retreat, so make sure to kill them so that they don’t shoot the tank on your back too much or you will die. You’ll have to destroy three trucks until the GCPD units retreat to the police station. Just take care of all of them as quickly as possible now and you should have gotten the 3000 Points Clear Time Bonus.
Get 350,000 points in a single play session of Riot Control.
This is fairly easy to get. You can achieve 350,000 points by the end of round 3 or beginning of round 4 so if you finish all 6 rounds you will easily unlock it. Just try to get as many awards as possible and try to get into Retribution Mode as much as possible and you will easily rack up over 100,000 points in a single round.
Marking your territory
Upload a Riot Control score to the Scoreboard.
You need to be connected to the PSN during Riot Control for that one. Once you beat round 6 in Riot Control or die during any round your score will automatically be updated to the scoreboards and the trophy will unlock.
Jack Slate of all trades
Get 15 unique awards in one round in Riot Control.
There are much more than 15 unique awards you can achieve while playing Riot Control. You can look them up at the end of each Riot Control session and choose the ones that fit your play style the best. You will easily get it after a few plays of Riot Control to get used to this mode. A few of the easiest awards are for Tag Team Kills, Shadow Kills, Command Kills (send shadow out to kill someone, can be achieved at the same time as a Tag Team Kill), Headshot, Disarm Headshot, Explosive (shoot one of the barrels in Riot Control and kill an enemy with the explosion) and Take Down.
NOTE: You have to achieve them during one single round of Riot Control as it is stated in the trophy description.
Dedication to the cause
Get 5,000,000 points total over multiple play sessions of Riot Control.
All the points you earn during Riot Control are added to your overall total score. It doesn’t matter if you die during Riot Control or finish Round 6. Just play as many times as you need to achieve 5,000,000 points.
Score 500,000 points in Retribution Mode over multiple play sessions of Riot Control.
Retribution mode is activated once you get enough awards quickly. Higher scoring awards fill the Retribution bar quicker. When Retribution mode is activated your hands are on fire and all points you achieve are doubled. You can keep Retribution Mode active by earning more awards. Just reach 500,000 points over multiple uses of Retribution Mode and the trophy will unlock. You will have this unlocked long before you unlock “Dedication to the cause”.
Score 250,000 points from Retribution Bonus over multiple play sessions of Riot Control.
See “Hot head” for instructions on Retribution Mode. When Retribution Mode ends, you will get a Retribution Bonus that goes up to a total of 10,000 points depending on how many points you’ve earned during Retribution Mode. You’ll have to reach a total amount of 250,000 points from Retribution Mode over multiple Riot Control sessions to unlock this trophy. You can easily activate Retribution Mode multiple times during one round though, so you should have this trophy a long time before you achieve “Dedication to the cause”.
Didn’t I kill you already?
Defeat Redwater in Riot Control.
All you have to do for this one is to defeat Redwater who appears in round 6 in Riot Control. You can’t finish round 6 without beating him, so just play the round the same as the other rounds and the trophy is yours. Redwater is pretty easy to defeat in Riot Control because you can shoot him instead of having to fight him in a melee only fight as in the main game.
