Far Cry: New Dawn is the follow up game to Far Cry 5 and takes place in the same location, sometime after the ending of Far Cry 5. You’ll play as the Captain, the head of security for a group that travels across the U.S. to help settlers in need. After your train is wrecked you must band together with the locals that requested your help in the first place to save your friend and bring peace to Hope County.

Step 0: Missable trophies

The only missable trophy is Honorary Scout. It requires you to talk to 10 Bean Scouts. These scouts will mark locations on your map. And if you have visited all locations or bought all the maps, they will stop appearing. So don’t buy any maps until you have the trophy.

Step 1: Story

The first step is to complete the story. Since there are no difficulty related trophies you can do everything on easy. You should also skin any new animal you come across to save time hunting them down later.

Trophies earned during this step:

  • Yoink
  • Forager
  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
  • Home is Where the Part Is
  • Weaponsmith
  • How’s it Look, Doc?

  • The Ryeunion
  • Honorary Scout

Step 2: Collectibles and miscellaneous trophies

After the story you want to hunt down and skin all the animals, collect the different collectibles and grab the remaining miscellaneous trophies you’re still missing.

Trophies earned during this step:

  • Sidecar Sidekick
  • White Gold

Step 3: Expeditions

You can do these at any time really but being better equipped as you will be late game makes it easier. Remember to get a partner for 3 expeditions for the Have Buddy, Will Travel  trophy.

Trophies earned during this step:

  • Have Buddy, Will Travel
  • Hit the Road
  • Paladin’s Secret
  • Expeditious Retreat
  • Conqueror

Earn all Trophies.

You may finally rest. And watch the sun rise on a grateful Hope County. The hardest choices require the strongest wills.

Loot a Highwaymen Supply Drop. Be careful, it won’t be unguarded!

Supply drops are big yellow crates that randomly drops from the sky as you traverse the wilderness. They are also equipped with a flare for extra visibility. When one is nearby, you’ll have “Supply drop detected” appear on your screen. A few enemies will come along to try to recover the supply drop. Take care of them and then capture the supplies. If you have trouble finding one, travel to a hunting spot and idle. A drop should spawn sooner or later.

Gather 15 plants growing in Hope County. It’s the closest thing to a pharmacy we have nowadays.

Plants are very common in the wilderness, so you’ll get this no problem. You can also grow plants in Prosperity for easy access.

 Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Scavenge an Outpost. You can always reclaim it. Host only.

After liberating an Outpost, you have the option to scavenge it for ethanol. Doing so will make the outpost populated with enemies once again. The difficulty for the outpost will also increase one stage, for a max of level 3, after which it can be reset indefinitely without increasing the difficulty.

Home is Where the Part Is
Upgrade Prosperity’s infrastructure for the first time by investing in the right parts. Host only.

Story-related and cannot be missed.

This trophy unlocks when you upgrade Prosperity for the first time. Doing so cost ethanol, which is obtained by liberating outpost along with capturing supply drops and ethanol trucks.

 Sidecar Sidekick
Drive with Timber for a total of 5 minutes. Just don’t take him to the vet.

Timber is one of the “Guns for Hire”. To unlock him you need to first complete the side mission “Man Eat Dog World”. After that, Timber can be summoned from the roster menu. With Timber out, enter a car and drive around for 5 minutes; make sure he’s in the car with you. It does not have to be 5 consecutive minutes.

 White Gold
Commandeer an Ethanol tanker and bring it back to one of your outposts.

Ethanol tankers can be found driving along the roads of Hope County. To capture one, you need to kill the driver and then drive the tanker to a liberated outpost. Be careful not to destroy the tanker when you shoot the driver. If you can’t find one, travel to an outpost and idle by the road. A tanker should spawn within a few minutes.

 Finders Keepers
Complete 3 Treasure Hunt missions. Host only.

Treasure hunts consists of finding and looting a hidden stash. You can get hints of the location from scouts or buy maps from the Cartography Center. Looting a stash provides resources as well as perk points and Far Cry coins.

Picklock 5 safes. With no more banks, it’s the closest thing you’ll get to experiencing a heist.

You first need to unlock the “Lock Picking” perk before you’re able to pick safes. There are a lot of safes in Hope. So you won’t need to worry, but getting the perk early is recommended.

 Closed for Applications
Recruit all Guns For Hire. Host only.

Possibly bugged.

There have been reports of the trophy not unlocking after recruiting the last person. Thus it’s recommended to back up your save before completing your last mission to give yourself a second try if it happens.

There are 8 “Guns for Hire” – 2 story-related and 6 from side missions. You can find them on your own or have their location told to you by scouts.

 How’s it Look, Doc?
Craft 10 Medkits. They’ll definitely come in handy.

To craft a Medkit you need Bougainvillea and Cistanche (blue and yellow plants, respectably) along with some Meat. The blue plants are found near water and the yellow near roads and caves. Meat is collected from killed animals. With the ingredients in hand craft the medkits by pressing the touchpad and selecting medkit.

 Kill or Be Killed
Kill a Monstrous animal. It’d do the same to you given half the chance.

Monstrous animals are stronger versions of normal animals, which have yellow health bars. There are 4 in total – a bison, bear, boar, and cougar. They have their own hunting spots and the locations for these can be bought from the Cartography center. It’s recommended to have a legendary weapon when hunting them. They also have red glowing weak spots that you can shoot for extra damage. Killing any of the 4 will give you the trophy.

Find all the Dear Photograph locations and see Hope County as it used to be. Host only.

There are 9 photos and their location can be bought from the cartographer. When at the photo site you need to line the photo up with the background.

Rediscover some sweet tunes for the new world. Find all hidden MP3 players. Host only.

There are 10 mp3s and their location can be bought from the cartographer.

 My Little Fortress
Make Prosperity better than ever! Build all Infrastructure upgrades available. Host only.

To upgrade Prosperity, you need ethanol, which is gained from liberating outposts or capturing supply drops and ethanol trucks. Outposts are the most efferent way to gain ethanol. You also need to recruit the 5 specialists to fully upgrade Prosperity. The specialists are required for story progression, so you can’t miss them.

 Master Skinner
Collect at least one skin from every type of animal in Hope County. Not creepy at all.

There are 25 animals you need to skin for this trophy. That includes the 4 monstrous animals. The challenge tab has challenges relating to skinning some of the animals which helps you track the trophy. When hunting, bring along Timber as he will mark animals for you.

 Hit the Road
Complete 7 unique Expeditions on the Rank III difficulty.

To start you must first unlock the expedition center in prosperity. After that you can talk to the pilot to go on expeditions. Each time you compete an expedition the rank on that expedition increases one stage, up to rank 3. For this trophy, you must beat the 7 expeditions 3 times each. When an expedition has 3 stars on it, you’re done with that one.

 Pure Ninja
Liberate a Rank III Outpost while staying undetected.

Outposts increase in rank every time you scavenge them. To reach rank 3 you need to scavenge the same location twice. Before attempting this it’s highly recommended to have a legendary tier bow as well as the “Master Takedown” perk. The bow will insta-kill all enemies except for the enforcers. If you are underequipped, you can bring Nana along as she uses a silenced sniper rifle, and have her take out the enemies. You can do this at any outpost, but I found the Island to be the easiest.

 All Your Bases
Liberate all Outposts at least once on Rank III.

There are 10 outposts in total and to get them to rank 3 you must scavenge them twice. Every time you do the enemies will retake the outpost and become stronger, capping out at rank 3. Having good weapons before attempting this is recommended, especially a legendary bow if you want to stealth it. Taking out the alarms first is recommended so if you get spotted you won’t have to deal with reinforcements.

Craft 3 weapons. They don’t need to look good, they just need to get the job done!

You can craft weapons at a workbench. There are benches at all outposts and in Prosperity. Crafting guns costs resources, which are obtained from looting, trading or expeditions. The rarity of the crafted weapons doesn’t matter.

 You’re a Catch
Successfully catch one of every type of fish in Hope County. Get those omega-3s.

You must first buy the fishing perk to be able to fish. You can buy the fishing spots location from the cartographer and most of the fish have challenges attached, helping you keep track.

 Save Your Bacon
Recruit Horatio. Don’t mind his temper, he can be pig-headed sometimes. Host only.

Horatio is one of the “Guns for hire”. Complete the side mission “To Love a Boar” to have him added to your roster.

Use 3 smoke grenades.

You can get smoke grenades either by looting or by crafting them with Yucca (yellow plant) and black powder. Simply use 3 grenades and the trophy is yours.

 It’s Super Effective!
Headshot an Enforcer with Piercing Ammo.

First you need a gun capable of shooting piercing rounds. Higher tier Assault rifles and MGs have the capability. After getting an epic or legendary version of the aforementioned guns. Equip it, then open the weapon wheel and while hovering over the gun press  to switch ammo type. Now all that remains is to headshot an enforcer. They can be found at every rank 3 outpost.

 Have Buddy, Will Travel
Complete 3 Expeditions with a co-op partner.

There is no matchmaking in New Dawn so you must invite or be invited to get this trophy. You can invite a partner from the title screen or from the online tab while in game. When you have your partner with you, complete 3 expeditions of any rank.

Bring a Knife to a Gun Fight
Kill 25 enemies using any type of takedown. Put that railroad spike to good use!

Takedowns are performed by pressing  while close to an unaware enemy. Dropping down on an enemy for an aerial takedown also counts. For higher tier enemies you need to unlock the corresponding tier of the takedown perk.

 Captain’s Courageous
Kill your first Enforcer. I’m sure this will send the Highwaymen a good message.

Enforcers are the yellow bar enemies and they are plentiful though out the game. They are also guaranteed spawns on rank 3 outposts.

 Good Job, Cap
Kill 5 enemies by throwing a shield at them.

Shields are carried by Brawlers enemies. Killing them will drop the shield. Pick up the shield and you can throw it by pressing ; after throwing it you can pick it up again. Lower tier enemies will die in one hit while higher tiers will need to be softened up first. Thus it’s recommended to try to get it done early. Shield enemies can be found throughout the game and can be farmed at the Island outpost rank 3.

 Stack ‘em Up
Purchase the 5th tier of a stackable perk. You can never have enough.

Certain perks can be bought multiple times, e.g. More Medkits. Buy any of these perks 5 time for the trophy. There is a counter telling you how many times a perk has been bought, letting you easily keep track.

 Fly, You Fools!
No wings means less drag, right? Take a short flight in the wingless plane.

You unlock the wingless plane when you complete Nick Ryes recruitment mission (unmissable). Spawn the plane at a boat shed and enter. Then while driving, toss a dynamite or pipe bomb in front of the plane. The explosion will blow you out of the water. When throwing, look down to avoid throwing the explosive to far and don’t let go of the gas.

Kill 10 brawlers with any saw launcher. They never saw it coming.

Brawlers are the shield carrying enemies. They must be shoot from the back as the shield block damage. Kill 10 of them with any saw launcher. They can be farmed at the Island outpost rank 3. Try to work on Good Job, Cap at the same time.

 Legend Has It
Craft your first Legendary Weapon or Vehicle and start a legend of your own.

To craft a legendary weapon or vehicle you first need to upgrade the workbench or garage at Prosperity to level 3. With that done you may craft any legendary weapon or vehicle you have the resources for. If you’re short on resources, expeditions are the way to go.

 Tip o’ the Hat
Knock an enemy’s helmet off with a charged melee attack.

Enemies of rank 2 and above are equipped with helmets. To knock them off, equip your bare hands and then hold down  to charge your melee. Then strike their head. If done correctly they will lose their helmet.

Unlock the first level for all Perks.

There are 30 perks in total. A second set becomes available during act 2. Perk points are plentiful throughout the game and you won’t be struggling to get more then enough. Simply keep an eye on the challenges and finish the treasure hunts.

 Archery Expert
Kill an enemy more than 100m away with a basic arrow.

This can be done with any bow but a legendary is recommended to ensure a one-shot kill. The “Lucky Shot Compound Bow” has a scope with distance marking to help you aim. Go to any outpost and mark it on the map. Tag an enemy and back off until you’re 100 meters away and then kill the enemy. Make sure you’re using a basic arrow.

 Get to the Point
Finish off an Enforcer with a bayonet.

First you need a weapon with a bayonet. Only some assault rifles have this. Craft one of them on the workbench, the higher tier the better. Then track down an enforcer, can be found at any rank 3 outpost. Soften the enforcer up with a few shots and then press  to stab him with the bayonet.

Missable! If you discovered all locations either by exploring or buying maps. The scouts will stop spawning.

Wiki-Bean-ia scouts can be found in the wilderness or at liberated outposts. They spawn randomly but are quite common. They have a blue icon above their heads. Talking to them will reveal the locations for “Guns for Hire” among other things of interest.

 Paladin’s Secret
Find Sam Fisher’s outfit in the Government Plane Wreck expedition

Government Plane Wreck is the 5th expedition unlocked. The outfit is in the back of the front part of the crashed plane. As you enter the body pf the plane, you will come across a table with a laptop on it. Interact with the laptop and then head up the stairs, at the far end is a vault door. Approach it and it will open, then pick up the outfit.

 Anger Management
Eliminate 10 enemies within a single activation of Wrath.

As you progress the story, a new set of perks will be introduced. Of them you need to buy Wrath and Eden’s touch. Wrath lets you deal massive melee damage while Eden’s touch refills your wrath as you get takedowns. Having the Master Takedown perk is also recommended.

With the perks in order you need to gather a lot of enemies. This can be done either at an outpost or during the end of an expedition. When the enemies have gathered, activate wrath and try to get as many takedowns as possible to extend your wrath.

Another way to get the trophy is to make use of a helicopter. Fly the helicopter to an outpost. Without being detected mark the enemies and get back to the helicopter. Then activate Wrath and use the helicopter to kill the enemies.

 Hey Father, Watch This
Perform an Aerial Takedown after using Leap of Faith.

Leap of Faith is a perk that becomes available during the Act 2 story. It grants the ability to double jump. To trigger an Aerial Takedown you need to double jump on an enemy and pressing  while midair. This can be done during combat, but it may be easier during stealth.

Survive a 30m fall using only Leap of Faith to nullify the impact.

Leap of Faith is a perk that becomes available during the Act 2 story. It grants the ability to double jump. Jump from a height of 30 meters or more and before you hit the ground trigger the double jump. This will reset the damage calculation and let you survive if done close enough to the ground.
